Trueplay corrects the room. Your own taste is a separate adjustment, made with the EQ.
Check the result
Beginner
- Play something you know well.
- Turn Trueplay off and on to compare: Settings, choose the room, Trueplay, then the Trueplay Tuning switch.
- If you prefer it on but want more or less bass or treble, adjust the Bass and Treble sliders in the room’s EQ settings.
- Loudness adds bass at low volume. Try it on and off.
When to retune
Retune whenever you move a speaker, or if the sound stops seeming right: Settings, choose the room, Sound, Trueplay, then Retune.

You’re done

That’s Trueplay done. If you’d like to see what it changed, you can measure it.
Levels and limits
Advanced
- Sub, surround and height level sliders are separate from Trueplay. Sonos doesn’t say whether tuning changes them, so check them after tuning and adjust by ear.
- Trueplay has no target curve you can edit and no graphs. The Bass, Treble and Loudness controls are the only adjustments.
- If tuning keeps failing or sounds wrong, retune in a quieter room, check the app’s microphone permission, and make sure the app and speakers are up to date.
The level sliders point is based on Sonos not documenting the interaction.
