Fixes for the problems people hit most with Anthem Room Correction (ARC Genesis) on Anthem, Paradigm and MartinLogan products. Fixes come from Anthem’s own help pages; some apply only to the models named.
Find your problem
- ARC Genesis can’t find my receiver or processor
- ARC Genesis doesn’t see the microphone (general)
- Windows sees the mic but ARC Genesis doesn’t (driver conflict)
- ARC shows ‘Critical Audio Error’ and no test tones play
- Internal test tones work but I get no sweeps from ARC Genesis
- Measurement fails at the subwoofer stage: levels too high or too low

ARC Genesis can’t find my receiver or processor
- Check the computer is on the same network as the ARC-compatible device, or connect it with a USB cable.
- Make sure everything is plugged in and switched on.

ARC Genesis doesn’t see the microphone (general)
- Check all connections, then click “Refresh Mics” (next to the Help button).
- Try a different USB port.
- In Windows, check another microphone is not set as the default device; if needed, uninstall the mic in Device Manager (Sound, video and game controllers) and scan for hardware changes.

Windows sees the mic but ARC Genesis doesn’t (driver conflict)
- Open Device Manager > Sound, video and game controllers.
- Disable “Intel Smart Sound Technology for USB Audio” or “AMD USB Audio”.
- Restart the laptop and run ARC Genesis.
- Re-enable the driver once calibration is finished.

ARC shows ‘Critical Audio Error’ and no test tones play
- Before connecting ARC, change the active input on the MRX x40 / AVM 70 / AVM 90 to Analog 1 or Streaming.
- If that fails, power cycle: unplug the mains lead and press the front power button about 10 times, then reconnect.

Internal test tones work but I get no sweeps from ARC Genesis
- Change the active input to Analog 1 or Optical 1 before running ARC Genesis.

Measurement fails at the subwoofer stage: levels too high or too low
- Before calibrating, open “Launch Quick Measure”.
- One sub: set the sub’s gain dial so the reading is close to 75 dB.
- Several subs: balance each first to 71 dB each (two subs), 67 dB (three) or 63 dB (four).
- Re-run the full measurement.

After ARC the sound is thin / lacks warmth
- In Adjust Targets, raise Room Gain (centre 150 to 300 Hz, 0 to +6 dB).
- Use Deep Bass (System-Wide Settings, centre 20 to 80 Hz, 0 to +6 dB) for extra low end.
- Go to Review Summary & Upload to apply.

After ARC the top end sounds wrong or bright
- Check Maximum EQ Frequency. Default is 5,000 Hz.
- For dipole speakers, Anthem suggests limiting correction to 300 to 500 Hz.
- Upload the revised settings.

How do I set crossovers / integrate the subwoofer?
- In Adjust Targets, set Crossover Frequency (range 40 to 250 Hz). Anthem suggests starting at 80 Hz; compact speakers may need 100 to 120 Hz.
- Tick “Send Bass to Subwoofer” to redirect bass below the crossover.
- Set sub gain first as in A6.

How do I re-run just part of ARC? / Where has ARC Mobile gone?
- Use Remeasure in ARC Genesis to re-measure selected speakers without a full recapture.
- ARC Mobile has been withdrawn from Google Play; only an archived version remains on the Apple App Store. Anthem now directs users to ARC Genesis.
