Trueplay Step 2: Run Trueplay

Both kinds of tuning start in the same place in the Sonos app.

Run it

Beginner

1. Open the Sonos app and go to Settings.
2. Choose the room or speaker to tune.
3. Under Sound, choose Trueplay, then Trueplay Tuning.
4. Choose Advanced tuning or Quick tuning.
5. Follow the instructions on screen.

Walking the room for Advanced tuning

• Walk slowly around as much of the room as you can.
• Move the phone smoothly up and down between head height and waist height as you go.
• Don’t talk, and keep footsteps quiet.
• Don’t touch the volume while it’s running.

It takes about three minutes. Quick tuning needs no walking: the speaker does the work.

Home cinema systems

Advanced

• On Arc Ultra, Era 100 and Era 300, Quick tuning covers stereo pairs and full home cinema sets, including sub and surrounds, in one pass.
• Retune after adding or moving a sub or surrounds. Sonos doesn’t force it, but experienced users on the Sonos community advise it, because the tuning depends on where every speaker is.
• Some users reported Advanced tuning failing with Arc Ultra at launch. If it fails, try Quick tuning.
