Posting a screenshot of one graph rarely gets you a useful answer. Share the measurement file itself, and anyone with REW can open every graph and check it properly.

Export and share, step by step

Beginner

1. Name your measurements

Click a measurement in the list and type a clear name in the box at the top of the panel, such as “Front left, main seat, correction off”. Add notes in the notes area. They’re saved with the measurement.

2. Save the measurement file

  • One measurement: File, Save measurement (Ctrl+S).
  • Everything: File, Save all measurements (Ctrl+Shift+S). This saves one .mdat file with every measurement, and it’s the best file to share.

3. Capture a graph image

  1. Set the graph up the way you want it seen: same smoothing and limits for everything you compare.
  2. Click the Capture button (the camera icon, top left of the graph).
  3. Choose PNG, tick Include legend, and set the width if you want a larger image.
  4. Save it, or copy it to the clipboard and paste it into your post.

4. Post it with the details people need

  • The .mdat file (upload it to a file-sharing service if the forum won’t take it) and a PNG capture.
  • The smoothing you used and your graph limits.
  • Whether you loaded the mic calibration file.
  • Which speakers, which seats, and whether the sub and speakers played together.
  • Correction on and correction off, measured at the same position and level.
  • Your room size in metres, where the speakers and seats are, and your REW version.

Check names and notes before you share. REW saves the date and time, calibration file names and your notes with each measurement. Leave your name and address out of file names and notes.

Other export formats

Advanced

  • Text: File, Export, Export measurement as text (or Export all measurements as text). To get a comma-separated file for a spreadsheet, first choose File, Export, Set text delimiter and pick comma.
  • Impulse response: File, Export, Export impulse response as WAV. Useful for other software, such as convolution tools.
  • Other data: distortion, RT60, impulse and EQ filter settings can each be exported as text from the same menu.
  • Adding a calibration file later: if you forgot the mic file, select the measurement and use Change Cal in the measurement panel.
